Connecting to a WiFi Network

This article will teach you how to connect to your modem's WiFi (wireless) network using a computer, smartphone or tablet.

  1. On your desktop, click the Network icon in bottom right-hand corner of your screen. This will bring up a list of available connections.

  2. Find the name (SSID) of your WiFi network and click on it.
     
  3. Ensure Connect Automatically is ticked and then click Connect.
     
  4. Enter your WiFi password.
     
  5. Click OK to finish. Your computer should remember your password for you from now on.

  2. Find the name (SSID) of your WiFi network and click on it.

  4. You’ll be asked to enter your Security key, which is your WiFi password (WPA). Type it in, and then click OK. Your computer should remember your password for you from now on.

  1. In the upper right-hand corner of your screen, click the Wi-Fi icon and select Turn Wi-Fi On.

  2. Clicking the Wi-Fi icon will now bring up a list of available WiFi networks. Select your network name (SSID) from this list.

  3. Enter your WiFi password, and then tick Remember this network to ensure your computer remembers your password for you from now on. Click OK to finish.

These instructions will work for Apple iOS 6 and later. Screenshots have been taken using iOS 7.

  1. Tap the Settings icon to open the Settings menu.
     
  2. Tap WiFi.

  3. Select the name (SSID) of your WiFi network from the list of available connections.

  4. Enter your WiFi password and then tap Join to finish. Your iOS device should remember your password for you from now on.

The appearance of Android OS varies depending on software version. If these instructions don't work for you, please check your handset manufacturer's website for support information.

  1. Slide your finger down from the top of the screen to view the Settings menu.
     
  2. Tap and hold WiFi until the WiFi Settings page opens.

  4. Enter your WiFi password and then tap Connect to finish. Your Android software should remember your password for you from now on.
