Configuring DNS - Mac OS X

Dialup

To configure DNS server settings on Mac OS X for a Dialup (or other PPP) connection, please follow the below steps:

  1. Click on the Apple Menu icon in the top left-hand corner
  2. Click on the System Preferences menu item.
  3. Click on the Network icon located under the Internet & Network heading.
  4. From the Show drop-down menu select Internal Modem.
  5. Click on the TCP/IP tab (see Fig. 1)
  6. From the Configure IPV4 drop-down menu select Using PPP.
  7. Make sure that DNS Servers text box is empty.
  8. Click the Apply Now button from the bottom left and then close the window.


Broadband

To configure DNS server settings on Mac OS X for a Broadband internet connection (when connected via Ethernet), please follow the below steps:

  1. Click on the Apple Menu icon in the top left-hand corner
  2. Click on the System Preferences menu item.
  3. Click on the Network icon located under the Internet & Network heading.
  4. From the Show drop-down menu select Built-in Ethernet.
  5. Click on the TCP/IP tab (see Fig. 2)
  6. From the Configure IPV4 drop-down menu select Using DHCP.
  7. Make sure that DNS Servers text box is empty.
  8. Click the Apply Now button from the bottom left and then close the window.
