Westnet Broadband Settings

Setup guides for Westnet modems are available here.

You can check which type of broadband you have by checking your address on our website.

If you encounter a setting that isn't listed here (e.g. MTU) in your modem's Setup Wizard/Quick Setup then it should be fine to leave it as the default.

 

ADSL, ADSL2+ and Naked DSL

DSL Standard/Mode/Modulation:
Auto, ADSL or ADSL2+. Select G.DMT if safe mode is desired.
Connection Type/Mode/WAN Type: PPPoE
Multiplexing/Encapsulation: LLC
Authentication type: PAP
Username: Enter your full username here e.g. example@westnet.com.au
Password: Enter your password (Forgotten password?)

NBN™ FTTB/FTTN

Modems must support VDSL2.

If you use a third party modem, your included phone service (and any calls) will not be available.

NBN™ FTTP, FTTC or HFC

These instructions also apply to non-NBN™ Fibre to the Home (FTH) connections such as OptiComm or RedTrain.

If you use a third party modem, your included phone service (and any calls) will not be available.

Westnet VDSL2

VLAN: Enabled/on (or you may need to set the VLAN networking standard, 802.1q)

Westnet Cable

All Westnet Cable connections must use the modem that is supplied by us. These gateways auto-configure with all the required settings for Westnet Cable and your included Netphone service.

Connections using third party hardware are not supported, however you may choose to connect your own WiFi router to the Cable Gateway to handle your home WiFi network.
