Reinstalling a dialup modem in Windows

Windows 10

  1. Right-click on the Start menu button, then select Control Panel.
     
  2. Double-click Phone and Modem, then select the Modems tab. If you don't see Phone and Modem, use the search bar at the top right or switch to "small icon" view.
     
  3. Highlight your modem by clicking its name and then click the Remove button.
     
  4. Restart your computer.
     
  5. When your computer boots up again, your modem should be detected and reinstalled automatically. If this doesn't happen, check the setup instructions for your modem to complete a manual installation.

 

Windows 7

  1. Click Start, then Control Panel.
