The DSL Transfer Process, also known as Fast Transfer or Churn, provides an efficient way for you to move your existing Broadband1 service between Internet Service Providers (ISP's) while minimising cost and downtime. The process allows you to transfer from your current Broadband provider to Westnet without going through the lengthy disconnect and reconnect process.

You are only eligible to churn to Westnet if your current Broadband1 ISP participates in the transfer process. You can view the DSL Transfer List to see if your ISP is a participant in the transfer process.

You may also check with your current ISP if you have any queries about whether your Broadband1 service can be transferred using the DSL Transfer Process.

Please note: If you have an existing Broadband2+ service that you would like to transfer to Westnet, feel free to sign up as usual and we will email you if you are required to disconnect from your previous DSL provider before we can connect you.

Changing Broadband Speed During the Transfer Process

If you are transferring your existing Broadband1 internet service to Westnet, you may choose to change speeds at the time of transfer for no additional cost.

Disconnecting from Your Current ISP

You should not disconnect from your current ISP before the transfer is complete, as doing so may incur reconnection charges. Once the transfer is complete, your current ISP will be informed that you have moved.

It is advisable to check with them after you have been connected to Westnet to ensure your account is closed and billing has ceased, as Westnet cannot be held responsible for ongoing charges from your previous ISP.

Downtime During the Transfer

The transfer process can take between 3 and 10 working days from the time Westnet processes your application. You will remain connected to your current ISP for the majority of that time. After your application is processed, Westnet will inform you of the transfer date. On this date, you will be offline for between 20 minutes and 4 hours while the transfer takes place. The average downtime is 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Broadband Providers Who Do Not Participate in the DSL Transfer Process

If you are certain your current ISP is not a DSL Transfer Process participant, you need to completely disconnect your current service before connecting with Westnet. As this is treated as a new connection, a standard new connection fee will apply.

How to Transfer to Westnet
