Ready to take the next step and contribute to MyHelp? The more people contribute to a wiki, the better the quality and quantity of its content. Here are a few tips to help you get started!

Only registered users are able to create new articles for MyHelp. Registration is FREE!

Step 1: Make sure the content doesn't already exist

MyHelp has a powerful search engine that you can use to make sure there isn't already an article that contains the information you want to add. If the content you wish to add already exists, perhaps you can add additional information to it that it may not already contain, rather than creating a whole new article?

Step 2: Decide where to add the article

Articles in MyHelp are organised into spaces, which are basically similar to folders on your computer - everything has to be stored somewhere. You can also add a new article to another article (making your new article a 'Child' article), which you would normally do if the information you're adding is related to another article. Adding an article is as simple as clicking the Add Page button, which you'll find at the top of most pages within MyHelp.

Alternatively, if you're not 100% sure where to add the article, you can choose from one of the links below:

  • New Internet article - articles that apply to more than one type of service or cover general topics should be added to the Internet space with this link.
    • New Broadband article - if your article applies specifically to Broadband Internet (e.g. Broadband1, Broadband2+, Satellite Broadband, etc), you should add it in the Broadband space with this link.
    • New Dialup article - if your article applies specifically to Dialup Internet, you should add it in the Dialup space with this link.
    • New Email article - if your article applies specifically to Email, you should add it in the Email space with this link.
    • New Security article - if your article applies specifically to Internet Security, you should add it in the Security space with this link.
  • New Phone article - articles that apply to Westnet Phone services should be added to the Phone space with this link.
  • New Hosting article - articles that apply to Westnet Hosting services should be added to the Hosting space with this link.
  • New Billing or Accounts article - articles related to billing, services other than Internet or Phone services, or Westnet accounts in general should be added to the Accounts & Other Services space with this link.
  • New MyHelp article - articles related to MyHelp (e.g. tutorials, etc) should be added to the Using MyHelp space.

Step 3: Write the article

Once you've decided where to add your article, just start typing in the large text area. Use the buttons at the top to create tables, add images, etc. You can also add labels to your article so that it is both easy to find and easy to see what it relates to. Click the EDIT link next to Labels: below the large text area, and either select from one of the suggested labels (if any) or just type your own, and then click DONE to save them.

Wiki Markup Code (optional)

If you need to know which wiki code to use in your article, a full notation guide is available here

Step 4: Save your creation

Once you're done creating the article, just click Save and the new page will be created!

What happens next?

Once you have updated an article, the MyHelp moderators will be notified to review and moderate your changes. For more information on moderation, please see Article Moderation.
