Westnet's Email Protection package can scan your incoming email for viruses and spam before they reach your Westnet mailbox. This decreases the likelihood of a harmful message infecting your computer, and helps you keep your Inbox under control.

The service is available for $10.00 per quarter or $30.00 per year. This will include all free additional Westnet email addresses within your account.

How It Works

Westnet makes no claims or guarantees about the reliability of the virus detection service.
Westnet strongly recommends you continue to run your own up-to-date antivirus software on your own computer or network.

Email Protection offers the following benefits:

  • If an email containing a virus is detected, the entire message is quarantined on Westnet's servers and a notification message is sent to you detailing the infection.
  • If a message has a 'spam probability' of 50% or more, it will be intercepted and quarantined.
  • If a message has a 'spam probability' of 99% or more, it will be silently discarded without being quarantined.

You will receive a daily summary email that lists all messages that were quarantined. From this summary email you are able to release spam messages of interest back to your email box. Messages that were discarded will not be listed in this summary.

Approving Senders

You can add email addresses to an Approved Senders list to prevent messages sent from this address from being quarantined or discarded. See Email Protection - Approving Senders for more information.

Changing Email Protection Settings

You can configure settings individually for each of your Westnet email addresses:

  1. Log into the MyAccount service with your Westnet username and password
  2. In the Services section, click the Email Protection link
  3. Check or uncheck the relevant boxes next to each email address for Virus Scanning, Spam Filtering and Notification Emails
  4. When you have finished, click the Submit button

Cancelling the Service

To cancel your subscription to the Email Protection service, please contact the Westnet Accounts Team on 1300 855 006.
