Throughout the Westnet website you may notice the terms Broadband1 and Broadband2+ but are wondering what they mean. The terms Business Grade broadband and Internet Grade broadband are also used.

Broadband1

Broadband1 simply means high-speed internet. Broadband is the most popular type of high-speed connection for the following reasons:

  • Permanent "always on" internet connection
  • Seamless surfing
  • High speeds = super fast downloads
  • Be online and on the phone at the same time

Westnet offers the most comprehensive range of plans with speeds of 256kbps, 512kbps, 512kbps/512kbps, 1.5Mbps and 1.5Mbps-8Mbps.

You also have the option of bundling your Broadband1 service with Westnet Phone- a simple and cost-effective solution to all your phone needs with our excellent phone rates and exceptional quality of service.

Broadband2+

Broadband2+ is the next generation, super fast Broadband service with speeds of up to 20Mbps (dependant on a number of factors including distance from your exchange, quality of your phone line and hardware). It does everything Broadband1 does - but faster!

Business Grade broadband

A Business Grade product is an internet connection that can offer an equal or improved level of performance to an Internet Grade product but is usually accompanied by a service level agreement (SLA). This includes penalty fees for periods customers experience without internet access, uptime guarantees (percentage of time in operation over a time period) and other features which do not relate directly to how the product operates. Business Grade products also incorporate a significant price difference to allow for Westnet to provide the most robust, redundant, fault tolerant network possible.

Internet Grade broadband

An Internet Grade product often offers the same performance and the same infrastructure but generally the price is far lower. This is generally achieved by removing the performance guarantees and uptime guarantees associated with Business Grade products.
