I cannot view the video clips in MyWestnet
The MyWestnet video player is a Flash-based application. Flash is a simple plugin that is present on most computers that provides animation, video and interactivity to web pages.
If you experience difficulty in viewing video content on MyWestnet, you may not have an up to date Flash plugin installed.
Please click here to visit the Adobe website, click on the GET ADOBE FLASH PLAYER button and follow the instructions to download and install the required software.
The video clips in MyWestnet do not play smoothly
When you select a video to watch on MyWestnet, the video will progressively load and play. This means that you will commence watching the video before the entire clip has been downloaded to the video player.
The speed of the user's internet connection may affect the rate at which the video file is downloaded. Hence, during the playing of the video, the video may pause momentarily while it waits for more of the video file to be downloaded. When more of the file has been downloaded, the video will commence playing again.
Video content is generally more suitable for a Broadband internet connection due to the size of video files and the speed that is required to download and progressively play them.
If you are experiencing problems playing a MyWestnet video, click the Settings button from within the video player:
- Change the Bandwidth option to a lower setting and increase the Buffering setting by 5-10 seconds. Click Submit and try to play the video again.
My settings are not being saved in MyWestnet
When you use pages or services on MyWestnet such as the movie guide or the weather pages, the site will give your computer a [cookie] - a small text file which gets stored on your computer - that details which local cinema you have chosen or which location you requested weather details for.
This file contains information about previous interactions with MyWestnet pages so that you don't have to re-enter or make a data selection each time you visit these pages. When you return to MyWestnet at a later date, the site will present you with your local cinema session times and weather information in your area without you having to make a choice.
If MyWestnet is not saving your settings when you revisit the site, the cookies on your computer are likely to have been deleted. You may have deleted these settings when you have cleared your browser of cookies. Alternatively, some internet security programs can prevent cookies storing information such as this.
